AQUACULTURE NUTRITION AND FEED DEVELOPMENT, PHILIPPINES
Improvement of feeding and feed management efficiency in aquaculture production in the Philippines
Tom Shipton was tasked with the providing technical backstopping to the project. The project addressed the technical, social and environmental issues related to improving feed formulation and manufacturing, and on-farm feeding and feed management for two of the major production species cultured in the Philippines - milkfish (Chanos chanos) and the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The production resulted in the adoption of improved commercial feed formulations, and the development of better on-farm feed management practices. The findings of the project were published in FAO Technical Paper 614 “Better management practices for feed production and management of Nile tilapia and milkfish in the Philippines”.
