DEVELOPMENT OF A RECREATIONAL FISHING TOURIST FACILITY ON XONXA DAM, EASTERN CAPE

This project was run under the Department of Economic Affairs and Tourism\'s Social Responsibility Projects programme. A fishing / tourism facility was developed on the banks of Xonxa Dam in the rural area east of Queenstown, and included the construction of four stone visitor chalets, a caretaker\'s house and a building to house fishing equipment and to clean fish. Camping facilities were also developed. The facility is run through a Public/Private Partnership arrangement with local communities benefitting from income received from visitors.
