Mr Kroese is a fisheries compliance and Monitoring Control and Surveillance expert. He has a M.Sc. in Zoology and more than 15 years’ experience in Fisheries Project Management & Program Implementation. He has managed the implementation of national and multi-national programs to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing as well as extensive expertise and knowledge of implementing Regional Harmonised Monitoring, Control and Surveillance systems. His work in fisheries monitoring and management ranges from artisanal fisheries in Africa’s great lakes to the industrial tuna fisheries of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries.  He has also developed and implemented cost saving, as well as revenue generating fisheries management initiatives to support regional fisheries bodies and national governments and is the first and second prize winner for innovative measures to combat Illegal fishing (in small scale fisheries) at the International Stop Illegal Fishing award, Auckland, New Zealand in March 2016.
